I am Sharon Gilliland, part-time bookkeeper and ministry assistant of the First Baptist Church of Moriarty since December, 2008.
I was born and raised in Texas and involved in the church about all of my life with my earliest memory being left crying at the age of 2 by my older sister in the church nursery of the First Baptist Church of Memphis, TX. I have since learned that the church nursery is a great place! I accepted Christ as my savior when I was eleven years old. I married Bud Gilliland in 1960. We have two daughters, Andrea Kinsley of Albuquerque and Laurel Hopkins of Congress, AZ. I am also the proud grandmother of Tye, Tristin, Tamber and Tiffany as well as great-grandmother to Rylan and Tacy.
Bud and I moved from Muleshoe, TX, to Willard, NM, in 1970 where he was foreman of the Torrance County Land Cattle Company. I joined the First Baptist Church in Estancia that same year. In 1990, we moved to Moriarty and I became a member of the First Baptist Church in Moriarty. I have been blessed to teach in children’s, youth and ladies ministries about all of my adult life. I currently teach a ladies class each Sunday morning and am a member of the C.A.T.
My husband died in 2006; and in 2007 after working 28 years as office manager at Gardner Turfgrass, in McIntosh, NM, I retired. A month later I joined the staff of the First Baptist Church.
